Launch your career in today’s fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving healthcare field. With MCC’s Clinical Laboratory Technician A.A.S. degree, you’ll combine comprehensive coursework with hands-on training.

As the only degree program in the Rochester area, we’ll help you build a solid foundation in data recording, lab analysis, medical computer applications, as well as medical subjects like hematology, immunology, and urinalysis. You’ll get real-world experience in hospitals, reference labs, and organizations like the Red Cross—preparing you for a rewarding career as a clinical laboratory technician.

The application deadline is January 31 for fall admission. Acceptance to the Clinical Lab Technician A.A.S. degree program is highly competitive; acceptance by Monroe Community College does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Many students need to complete several required courses before starting Clinical Lab Tech courses. Please review this program’s unique admissions requirements for new, current, transfer, returning, and adult applicants, and high school applicants.

Program Details

Build the critical skills to start a clinical lab technician career with MCC’s Clinical Laboratory Technician A.A.S. degree. 
A.A.S.

Applied Associate of Science

This program is designed for future clinical laboratory technicians. Through hands-on lab training and practical courses, you’ll be prepared to work in various clinical lab settings.

This program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible for New York State licensure as Certified Clinical Laboratory Technicians. Graduates are also eligible to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) certification exam.

Admissions requirements for new, current, transfer, returning, and adult applicants.
Admissions requirements for high school applicants. 

Length

2 years / 62 to 64 credit hours
Students typically complete this program in 4 semesters of full time study.

MCC offers nearly 30 degrees that are part of SUNY Reconnect. This program covers the cost of tuition, fees, books, and supplies. To be eligible, you must be a New York State resident between 25 and 55 years old, have no prior college degree, and plan to study full-time or part-time in a participating degree program.
