Tuition & Fees Details
Review current and upcoming tuition and fee rates for each academic year.
A student dropping or withdrawing from class(es) shall be responsible for payment
of tuition and fees in accordance with SUNY’s Tuition & Fee Refund Schedule as shown
below. Non-attendance does not relieve a student of their financial obligation.
Fall and Spring Semesters
- Drop before the start of semester: 100% of tuition and refundable fees
- Drop before the end of the first week of classes: 75% of tuition and fees
- Drop before the end of the second week of classes: 50% of tuition and fees
- Drop before the end of the third week of classes: 25% of tuition and fees
- Withdrawal after the end of the third week of classes: no refund
Summer Sessions
- Drop before the start of the semester: 100% of tuition and fees
- Drop before the end of the second day of classes: 90% of tuition and fees
- Withdrawal after the end of the second day of classes: no refund
Courses that are less than or more than a full semester in duration, either credit
or non-credit
- Drop before the first class day: 100% of tuition and fees
- Withdrawal as of the first class day: no refund
Please note: Classes that do not follow the typical full semester schedule for spring and fall,
or the typical first or second session for summer, may have a different refund schedule.

Tuition Appeal Requirements
If a student feels they have an extenuating circumstance that justifies an exception
to the refund policy, they may file a tuition appeal in the following manner:
- Appeals must be received no later than 120 days from the end of the term in which
the course was offered.
- Appeals received after the deadline will not be reviewed.
- All requests must be submitted in writing and must include supporting documentation
(e.g. drop/add forms, medical verification, obituary) and the Tuition Refund Appeal Form (PDF).
- Appeals received without the proper documentation and form will not be reviewed.
- Appeals must be made by the student. Appeals made “on behalf of” a student will not
be reviewed (unless the student is unable to submit an appeal due to incapacitation).
Students dropping or withdrawing from class(es) are charged tuition and fees in accordance
with SUNY's Tuition & Refund Schedule.
Drop/add refund dates are widely publicized. Therefore, appeals based on lack of awareness
of the dates will not be reviewed.
All decisions are final
Criteria for Appeals
- Death in the student’s immediate family (parent, sibling, offspring, spouse)
- Unforeseen medical incapacitation
- Military Duty – orders must accompany appeal
Appeals cannot be done via phone. All appeals must be submitted in writing.
Please note that appeals will not be approved for reasons including, but not limited to, the following:
- Dismissal for academic or disciplinary reasons;
- Dissatisfaction with a course's meeting time, location, or instructor's mode of instruction;
- Lack of awareness/understanding of the College's policies, dates, and deadlines published
in the College Catalog, in the Student Handbook, and online at www.monroecc.edu;
- Textbook or computer difficulties.
