Now located on our Brighton Campus, this state-of-the-art facility prepares learners for in-demand careers across manufacturing, optics, renewable energy, and more. With industry-grade labs and hands-on programs, the ATC connects education to real-world employment.

About the Sydor Optics ATC

The Sydor Optics ATC is built to provide hands-on learning inside innovative classrooms and simulation labs equipped with cutting-edge technology.

Lab Spaces

Our professional labs include: 

  • CNC, tooling and machining, grinding, engineering technology, and metrology labs 
  • Automotive, alternative fuel, and engine and transmission labs, complete with automotive bays and diagnostic equipment 
  • Optical physics, systems, and finishing labs 
  • Electrical circuits, energy management, building automation, fabrication, and solar thermal labs

Industry & Community Connections 

Built in partnership with Monroe County, New York State, and private industry leaders, the new Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center is a $45.5 million investment in Rochester’s workforce. The new facility is 110,000 square feet, more than double the size of the former ATC, providing expanded lab space, cutting-edge equipment, and modern classrooms. Sydor Optics and SPIE have invested in the center to advance optics training and workforce development. Their support brings enhanced equipment, lab spaces, and career pathways for learners—especially in optics, one of Rochester’s most critical industries.
