Want a hands-on role in the medical field? MCC’s Surgical Technology A.A.S. program trains you to become a key member of the operating room team. You’ll learn how to keep the surgical environment safe and sterile, prepare instruments and equipment, and support surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists during real procedures. In our Surgical Technology program, you’ll learn how to:

SUNY Reconnect: Free Community College

MCC offers nearly 30 degrees that are part of SUNY Reconnect, including Surgical Technology! This program covers the cost of tuition, fees, books, and supplies. To be eligible, you must be a New York State resident between 25 and 55 years old, have no prior college degree, and plan to study full-time or part-time in a participating degree program.

The application deadline is January 31 for Fall Admission.

Acceptance to the Surgical Technology A.A.S. degree program is highly competitive; acceptance by Monroe Community College does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Many students need to complete several required courses before starting Surgical Tech courses. A.A.S.

Associate of Applied Science

This program prepares you to become a skilled surgical technologist who keeps patients safe, supports surgeons during procedures, and maintains a sterile, well‑organized operating room.

This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

Upon completion, you'll be eligible to take the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certification Exam.

Length

2-3 years / 64 credit hours

Students typically complete this program in five semesters of full-time study.
