Education Studies: Adolescence

In the Education Studies: Adolescence program at MCC, you’ll pair a solid foundation in childhood development with real classroom fieldwork. You will: 

• Understand professional expectations and responsibilities of today’s educators 
• Create engaging lessons for students in grade levels seven through 12 
• Work with real documents, like New York State Education Department’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) 
• Apply subject-area knowledge while working with diverse adolescent learners 
• Build strong relationships with students and families 
• Use observation and assessment to guide teaching 
• Apply classroom management techniques using culturally aware and trauma-informed teaching practices 
• Gain hands-on experience through fieldwork placements in local schools
