Advisement Keys/Alternate Pin
An Advisement Key (Alternate PIN) is a temporary registration requirement that ensures
certain students meet with a Success Coach before registering for classes. During
this meeting, students can discuss their academic and career goals, confirm their
major or pathway, plan upcoming courses, and learn about resources to support their
success. Students who are undeclared, enrolled in specific Liberal Arts and Sciences
pathways, participating in SUNY ASAP, have a GPA below 2.0, or are in select Competitive
Health Programs must obtain an Advisement Key before registering. Competitive Health
Program students should contact their academic department for advisement and registration
assistance.
The Advisement key (alternate pin) is a temporary registration requirement placed
on some student accounts.
The Advisement key (alternate pin) is used to ensure students meet with a success
coach before registering for classes. These meetings are designed to help you:
- Confirm your major and/or pathway
- Discuss your educational and career goals
- Plan your courses for next semester
- Stay on track toward your academic goals
- Learn about campus resources that support your success
While all students should connect with their Success Coach to plan their course
of study, students in the categories below must meet with a Success Coach to get an
Advisement "key" (alternate pin) to unlock online registration access.
- Undeclared students (LIU1 pathway code)
- SUNY ASAP program students
- Liberal Arts & Sciences students (pathway codes LAS1-LAS7 and LIB1, LIB2 and LIB3)
- Students with a GPA below 2.0
- Competitive Health Program students must see their Academic Department
- Clinical Laboratory Technology
- Dental Assisting
- Dental Hygiene
- Nursing
- Radiologic Technology
- Surgical Technology
