Geology is the scientific study of the Earth—and a gateway to understanding some of today’s biggest challenges. In MCC’s Geology A.S. program, you’ll explore topics ranging from natural hazards and environmental restoration to energy resources and planetary science. Through a combination of field experience, lab work, and classroom study, you’ll build strong analytical skills and a solid foundation for transfer to a four‑year program and careers in fields like environmental science, hydrology, research, and beyond.

Natural Science Education Center (NSEC)

The NSEC provides a place to study and use models, charts, and microscopes in a supportive learning environment. Faculty and student tutors are available to answer your chemistry questions, help you study, and help you complete your chemistry assignments.

Real Fieldwork Experience

Roll up your sleeves and dive into a real field study. In a unique elective course, you’ll take classes on campus and then travel off-site to a local, regional, or national field site. Make observations, create sketches, record data, complete individual and group projects, and construct a field notebook detailing all aspects of your field experience. Our most recent fieldwork took place in state and national parks throughout Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, including Yellowstone National Park.
