Communication shapes how we connect, inform, persuade, and inspire. MCC's Communication and Media Studies program offers three tracks: Public Relations, Organizational Communication, and Journalism. No matter which route you choose, you'll develop strong skills in writing, speaking, media analysis, and content creation while exploring the role of media in society. Designed for transfer, this program provides a foundation for careers in journalism, public relations, organizational communication, broadcasting, media production, and related fields.

What You’ll Learn

 In MCC’s Communication & Media Studies A.S. degree program, you’ll learn how to: 

  • Communicate Effectively — Develop strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for personal and professional settings.

Associate of Science

This program offers three track options, allowing you to focus on topics that match your interests. All tracks provide a foundation in media literacy, content creation, and public speaking as you prepare to transfer to a four‑year degree program. 

  • Journalism Track: Produce media messages for a variety of audiences. 
  • Public Relations Track: Discuss ethical principles. 
  • Organizational Communication Track: Apply a listening model within a variety of personal and professional communications.

Length

2 years / 60 to 62 credit hours
Students typically complete this program in 4 semesters of full time study.
